A Walk Down Memory Lane

Come with me for a Walk Down Memory Lane! And if you have a "Memory Lane" post, head on
over to Scottsville to join in on the fun!

Today I am heading back to previous trips to get our Christmas tree. We started this tradition when our oldest was 2. We would load up with hot chocolate, a lunch, Christmas cookies, plenty of winter clothes, and go up in to the hills to find the perfect Christmas tree. As the kids have gotten older, they help cut the tree down and haul it back to our vehicle. And we have added kids, so we always seem to have a little one in a back pack. Different years we have taken our dogs with us.

This picture is from 2005. Padme is 16 months and Han is holding his dog Lucy.

This picture is from 2007. Padme is in the front in pink. She was sad because she didn't like her coat!
I don't have any pictures from last year because we had just moved and weren't sure where to go to cut our tree. Then Hubby hurt his back, and we ended up buying a tree at WalMart. The kids and I were so disappointed. And that tree was our least favorite, ever. We weren't even sad to take it down! We have our permit for a tree this year, so we have high hopes of a fun trip to find our perfect tree this year.

  1. Would you believe that I.... never in my life... have had a real tree?

My older sister was allergic, so we just always had a fake one. Then when I got married, we just stuck with a 'fake tree'. I guess since it's all I know, I don't mind. HOWEVER, hiking and finding a real one does sound like it makes for much better memories than OPENING A BOX and ASSEMBLING fake branches. =0)

Glad you joined me on my walk today. Great pictures!

  3. Wow, I'm impressed! My husband hauls down the fake tree every year and I help him open up the branches. I love real trees, but he has allergies:)

  4. What great memories! We used to have a real tree every Christmas growing up. I am still, to this day, surprised that it never caught on fire with us using those industrial size OUTDOOR LIGHTS on it! lol

Loved your pics... You have a beautiful family!

    Blessings~

  5. Amy- I'm sorry I'm just getting to you about this. I always think of it while I'm driving or already in bed half asleep.
I just want you to know I've started praying for you. I don't know what you meant on the Memorial Stone post when you said you were struggling, but God does, so I bring it to him. I hope you are ok. If there is anything I can do... talk/email- sometimes it helps to talk to someone who has no emotional baggage with your family members/friends- please let me know.

    in Him,
